At Anacostia, we strategically develop community partners in four areas to better meet the needs of our students, families, staff, and community:
Academic Enrichment
  Reach Inc.
  • Paid, work-based learning opportunities for high school students to tutor elementary school students
  • Fellowship
    • An opportunity for our tutors to continue to earn raises in our core, after-school program by progressing through four defined levels that map to key college or career readiness milestones
    • Tutors who complete The Fellowship will be eligible to access support for the transition to college or career.
  • Summer Leadership Academy
    • For tutors who have completed a year of after school tutoring and our College Mentorship program.
 Health, Wellness & Wrap Around Services
   Access Youth
  • Support students and families with knowledge and awareness on the truancy
  • Encourage and motivate students to actively raise their ISA via creative and engaging programming and incentives
  • External opportunities (including community service) are available for participating students
   Latin American Youth Center (LAYC)
  • School-based counselor at the school through the school mental health expansion
  • The counselor can support the school with staff trainings, students support, leading small groups, and providing individual and family therapy to students
   Homeless Liaison  
  School Based Health Clinic (for Anacostia Students)
  • Telehealth and in-person visits for all healthcare needs (college/sports physicals, immunizations, sexual health services, medication management + lots more)
  • Legal services (housing/eviction/utilities, food stamps/medicaid benefits, guardianship/custody, may refer for other needs)
  • Connection to and coordination of mental health services

   Global Kids
  • We offer college support and after school programs at Ana from 3-6pm, M-Th
  • Educate, activate and inspire youth from underserved communities to take action on critical issues facing our world
  • 4-day a week schedule includes: 2x- Leadership (explores global/local issues, takes action), 1x Creative Expression (this past year was modeling), 1x Radio Rookies (social justice podcasting)
  • We also do homework help, supporting college applications (including college tours) and getting connected to international travel opportunities.
   Men Can Stop Rape (MOST Club)
  • We provide students with a safer space to practice key SEL skills
  • We take a public health approach to the primary prevention of men's violence against women
  • We provide students with community service opportunities in the form of Community Strength Projects (CSPs)
   Moms Demand Action  
   Office Of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement (ONSE) Leadership Academy (OLA)
  • School-based program with six full-time
  • Working with 40 students who have been selected to receive additional supports due to attendance, behavior, and academic progress challenges
  • Provides attendance monitoring and behavioral supports and interventions, as well as Safe Passage support during morning arrival and afternoon release
 Post-secondary College & Career Preparation
   College Track
  • 10-year commitment to students to get them to and through college - starting with 9th graders and following them through college graduation
  • We offer after school services at our site on the campus of Friendship Tech Prep Academy on MLK Ave SE
  • We provide wraparound services to students including academic, social emotional, and college financial aid support to all of the selected students in our cohorts
   McCullough Construction, LLC
  • Offers construction training to DC residents, particularly those who are unemployed and are in physical condition to perform the task, which different construction trades entail.
  • Offers training class to current graduating class students of DCPS, including Anacostia High School (AHS) and Public Charter Schools.
