Anacostia High School is a uniform school. All students should adhere to the following uniform expectations:
  • Shirts: All students can choose from royal blue, red, or white collared shirts (polo, blouse, or long sleeve). There are no specific grade level expectations.
  • Pants: All students can choose from khaki colored pants, capris, knee-length skirts, or knee-length shorts.
  • Alternative: In the place of a uniform, students may choose to wear any Anacostia High School clothing (e.g. Ninth grade academy t-shirts, athletic sweatshirts, football jerseys, cheerleading polos, etc.). Unless the outfit is a full athletic sweat suit, students should still wear khaki colored bottoms.
  • Students may not wear casual clothes (e.g. jeans, leggings, tank tops, crop tops), except as outlined above in alternatives.
The school’s uniform policy is enforced at the school entrance by deans. Students will not be turned away from the school for not being in proper uniform, and teachers should not turn students away from their individual classrooms for being out of uniform.

When school communities choose to have dress codes or uniform guidelines, we require gender neutral policies to support all students, regardless of gender identity. Students who are not following the dress code or uniform policy will not be barred from class.
